Time For School Animations
Collaborating again with the wonderful Lee Bruce Design, the team at Sixth Sense pulled together a package of 18 short animations to sit within the Time For School brand and series. Working closely with the DEI team at the BBC and our leading educational consultants, each animation offers a succinct and encouraging message to Early Years viewers.
BBC Education Little Learners
These six short films were the first commissioned to sit on the newly launched CBeebies Little Learners app. Centring on the theme of learning through play, and based on the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, areas covered include numeracy, phonics and feelings.
Here4You
Working with six of the UK’s leading mental health charities, this piece of work was aimed at supporting young people’s mental health and signposting them to immediate help if in need. Funded by the Walt Disney Company, Sixth Sense joined this national campaign at its early inception, creating a format for the half hour piece of content and producing the show which sits on ITVX and was delivered to 7000 schools across the UK. Fronted by the wonderful Roman Kemp, and packed with tips, teens with lived experience, a performance by Tom Grennan and more, the piece is accompanied by a schools package.
Mental Health Research Matters
Funded by the UKRI, and working in collaboration with the McPin Foundation and the University of Oxford, Sixth Sense produced a short animated film to be viewed by researchers, academics and those with lived experiencing explaining the importance of why research in this area is priority. Working with Lee Bruce Design and a group or mental health research charities, the film has been showed at research events, screenings and used within the academic world.

Happy Media, Happy Mind
Join Sixth Sense MD, Sallyann Keizer, as she hosts a panel examining the role media professionals can play in tackling the escalating child mental health crisis. The session brings together a panel of industry experts, mental health advocates and lived experience representatives to share their thoughts and best practices. Shown as part of The Children’s Media Conference 2021.

Fundraising video for youth mental health charity Beyond to raise money to deliver urgent services to schools. During a photo shoot with world-famous photographer Rankin, the interviews capture the personal stories of Beyond’s Youth Board to create a moving and inspiring film.
LGBTI Q&A
Sixth Sense MD, Sallyann Keizer, hosts a panel of LGBTQ+ young people as they discuss their mental health, the challenges they faced growing up, and their journeys to discovering their identities. Produced for Beyond as part of Mental Health Awareness Week 2021.
Our Family on BBC Teach
A brand extension of the popular Our Family series, 6 films which introduce children to a wide range of families, each demonstrating the same love and care for each other. Based on the KS1 RSE curriculum, subjects covered include: showing respect; changing families; supporting and helping one another; caring family networks; roles and responsibilities, and same-sex families.
CBeebies Grown-ups: Our Family
A short film with associated social media content, produced for CBeebies’ Grown-ups to complement series 5 and 6 of Our Family. The film celebrates families of diverse backgrounds and structures, and shares tips for parents about how to create an inclusive future for all children.
Bow-Wowza
Meet Dexter D and his puppy pals as they share brilliant life hacks to teach children mental wellbeing and PAWSitivity. Bow-Wowza is the first mental health offering for children rooted fully in education and entertainment, and was developed with the vision of empowering all children to flourish. Across the series we’ll meet friends including canine coach Joe Sniffs, country singing doggo Nia, the world’s most famous woofluencer, Mr Miel; and international superstar Drake – all helping you to #unleashyourbestlife!
Brain Boost with Bow-Wowza
CBeebies presenters Rebecca Keatley and Katy Ashworth host this Brain Boosting session all about kindness and gratitude, sharing tips, activities and resources and featuring Bow-Wowza’s Dexter D and his puppy pals. Shown as part of the Now and Beyond Festival on Inside Out Day 2021.
Time for School on CBeebies Radio
Time for School: Carpet Time drops in on a group of children as they learn, discover and play. Featuring pupils from a primary school and their teacher, each episode explores everyday subjects, from Starting School and Minibeasts, through to Lunchtime and Golden Rules. Giving an authentic snapshot of what life is like at school, listeners will learn from the fun activities, games and discussions that the children take part in.
Time for School on BBC Learning
A series of short films aimed at children who are about to start school for the first time, and their parents. The clips give an insight into what life is like at primary school from those who know it best – its staff and pupils. Content consists of school tours, teacher tips, tales from the staffroom and children sharing their thoughts on a range of school-related themes.
Our Family
BAFTA winning pre-school observational documentary series celebrating the everyday magic of family life in the UK. High rating on the Channel and BBC iPlayer, regularly in the top five shows, the series received particular praise for its authentic representation of diversity and disability.
Our Family Bereavement Film
The Our Family brand joins forces with Child Bereavement UK to create two films for BBC Grown-ups. The first deals with the subject of talking about death with your little one, and the second is about talking to your child after a frightening event

A heart-warming pre-school observational documentary series following the lives of Reception children at two contrasting primary schools, as they start school for the very first time. The programme was CBeebies’ top rating show during launch week, and received critical acclaim as a crucial tool to introduce children to school.
My Life: Star’s Incredible Journey
The inspiring story of twelve-year-old Star who has brittle bone disease and struggles to walk up a flight of stairs. Star embarks upon the challenge of a lifetime – to climb 704 steps to the top of the Eiffel Tower, raising money for other children with her condition.
Little Explorers
Live action shorts showcasing different activities children can do during their summer holidays. The programmes were shot at contrasting locations, offering a diversity of activities to our younger audience.
Family
A delightful pre-school series follow the daily goings-on of three-year old Jade, her brother six-year old Josh, and their parents. This documentary, filmed in Norfolk, captures the daily life of a typical British family.
Play
An enchanting pre-school series capturing children as they play together on a beach in Devon. Highlighting ‘natural play’ as a source of both learning and joy, the shows reflect the magic of children being children together.
A Different Life: Matthew
Matthew has brittle bone disease, which means his bones can break with the slightest knock. Unable to walk, with limited mobility, Matthew has a ‘zest for life’ rarely found. In this honest and inspiring documentary, we follow his first steps towards the independence he has so long strived for.
Big School
The world’s first mainstream pre-school observational documentary series following a Reception class at a Buckinghamshire infant school as they start their first term at school. Our cameras capture the children’s daily experiences and reveal what really happens when parents leave their little ones at the gate.
Hospital
Behind the scenes documentary filmed at Diana, Princess of Wales Children’s Hospital, talking to those who know how it really works – the patients. For children and about children, this heart-warming series follows the life-changing stories of our brave and inspirational young contributors.
Make It Big
10 kids, 6 weeks, 1 office. The series follows a group of 11-14 year olds as they attempt to take the adult world head-on and run their very own business for the summer holidays. Through the eyes of our young employees we see just what happens when children are given the opportunity to work like adults.
Stepping Up
An observational Children’s documentary series following a group of students in their first year of comprehensive school in central England. We walk the school corridors with a diverse group of children learning to deal with the difficult task of growing up. For the first time, this show empowers young people to tell the stories of what really matters to them.
School
This ground-breaking documentary series was the first of its kind to gain full access to students in their final year at a comprehensive school in Manchester. Dubbed ‘the real Grange Hill’, our cameras followed the teenagers’ daily movements, through to their GCSE exams and final results. The programme was the highest rating factual show on the network at time of broadcast.
School Update
The follow-up series to School. Only a year later, how have our young adults fared in the real world? As the teens reunite for the very first time, we discover how friendships have changed since leaving school, and explore what’s in store for our special gang.
