We are delighted to share that the latest series of Our Family is about to go to air! We’ve been working (on and off!) on these very special programmes for the last year, through the trials and tribulations of lockdown. The twenty episodes will be transmitted on CBeebies (and iPlayer) from Monday 5th April and are scheduled for 16.10 Monday to Friday.
Our beautiful families have always been at the heart of the Our Family project, and this latest series is no different. We have such gratitude for each and every grown up and child who has supported us in our journey to transmission over these past years.
In addition to the CBeebies series, there will be a complementary film for BBC Grown Ups with advice to help parents encourage their children to be more inclusive. There will also be another six Our Family films created for BBC Teach (which is the BBC’s wonderful teacher-facing digital offering). These films support the primary school Relationships curriculum by exploring and celebrating diverse family life.
This series is also special to us all because it will represent the first time that a same-sex parented family has been shown on unscripted, live-action preschool TV: a first for the channel and, we believe, globally. I am grateful to the BBC for their support in this process, and also particularly thankful to Stonewall, who have so kindly supported Sixth Sense in the family liaison process and advised us throughout this journey.
Will you be making any more series of Our Family?
At present there are no more series currently in the pipeline, but if this changes we will post details on our website and socials. We hope there will be!
